Summary
The major problem with infection control is crosscontamination. It is one of the most difficult concepts to teach health care workers because at home we often follow the 5-second rule. We touch items and transfer germs without even realizing it. This course will cover what to be aware of to avoid cross-contamination in your practice/clinic. This includes personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, surface disinfection, instrument processing, respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette, and OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens standard, standard precautions, and transmission-based precautions.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss ways to update your infection control protocols.
- Avoid common mistakes of cross-contamination.
- Learn ways to train and educate dental health care professionals.
